The IEEE Opole Student Branch on Electrical Drives Workshop in Germany’2007.
The IEEE Opole Student Branch on Electrical Drives Workshop in Germany’2007.
The Polish group of students from IEEE Opole Student Branch has taken a part in the Science-Technical Workshop on Electrical Drives in Bavaria (Germany). Each of the students has given a presentation on Workshop’s area. The Seminar of the workshop took a place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on 20 – 24th October 2007. 11 student’s presentations has been given.
On Sunday, 21st of October, we visited the greatest in the world museum of technology (Deutsches Museum). We saw a lot of interesting technical models. The visitor can do many of the presented physical and chemical experiments himself. The high voltage experiment was the most spectacular one.
After visiting museum, we met our friend from University of Munich and we had a “beer time” in the oldest pub in the City.
The next day we started on 7 am. Our first destination place was the General Electric Research Center in Garsching by Munich. We spent there more or less 1.5 hour. The dr Stefan Schroeder has presented the area of center’s research and the newest solutions for wind turbines. We saw there some of their laboratories.
On 2pm we were invited to Max-Planck Institute for Plasma Physics. After a short presentation, we had a tour on generator of plasma. The MP Institute works on thermonuclear fusion. We met there two polish postgraduate students, who work on material engineering for ITER program.
The last destination place was a BMW Welt. The official opening of this huge and representative building was at 19th (Friday before our arrival to Bavaria). We saw there many of newest cars and motors. The Monday’s evening was spent in the most known brewery – Hofbräuhaus.
On Tuesday we traveled to Neuschwanstein and Hoheschwangau Castles. Unfortunately, the weather was not for sightseeing. In spite of the atmospheric conditions, we walked to the most known mountain bridge – Marienbrücke.
Our last day (Wednesday) we visited Ansoft Germany Co. The representatives shown us Ansoft software. The software is used for the mechatronic systems simulations. After 3 hour technical meeting we went to Spaten (oldest brewery in Munich). We learnt there about the history and beer production process.
In summary, the Workshop ended successfully. We learnt about latest achievements of the knowledge and technology in physics, electrical engineering, automatic controls and informatics. We hope, that the next Workshop will take place in Geneva and Zurich.
